Lillian Alling : ウィキペディア英語版 | Lillian Alling Lillian Alling was an emigrant to North America (Northeastern USA and/or Southeastern Canada) from Eastern Europe (Estonia and/or Poland) who in the early years of the 20th Century attempted a return by foot to her homeland. Her recorded journey started in New York, USA, and went West through Southern Canada, British Columbia, the Territory of Alaska and possibly across the Aleutian Islands to Russia. ==Description from a book by Calvin Rutstrum== The following is an excerpt from Calvin Rutstrum's ''The New Way of the Wilderness'' (1958): Alling's story provided the loose inspiration for the 2001 novel ''Raven Road'' by Cassandra Pybus, and also for ''Away'', a 2007 novel by Amy Bloom. In 2007 Vancouver Opera announced a commission of an opera based on the Lillian Alling story. Composed by John Estacio, with a libretto by John Murrell, it premiered on 16 October 2010. The Banff Centre also presented the opera at the end of August 2011.
